The purpose of this lesson is to create an improvisation-based activity from a piece students are working on in their ensemble. Students use improvisation to connect higher-level musical concepts with the music they are performing. In this case, the lesson was structured to help students recognize consonant notes that fit within harmonic changes.

This lesson is intended to inspire our students to become composers and make creative choices in their small ensembles.
